What began as a perfect wedding day for Dave and Jesni Fiji ended in unimaginable tragedy on May 29. Mere minutes after their wedding ceremony in Dawsonville, Georgia, the helicopter carrying the newlyweds and their pilot crashed. Dave, 25, and pilot Nikhil Nargundkar, 28, were killed in the Robinson R66 chopper incident.
Jesni, though injured, survived the crash. She endured a harrowing ordeal, waiting hours for rescue in a densely wooded area where the helicopter went down. Emergency responders, alerted around 10:35 p.m., faced significant challenges reaching the remote site, ultimately arriving five and a half hours later.
The couple, in their 20s, had planned a short flight to their honeymoon hotel in Atlanta, only 40 miles away. They had achieved personal and professional goals before their marriage. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
