A devastating flash flood has struck a mountainous area along Nepal's border with China, with a Nepalese villager describing the near-complete destruction of her home.
Parbati Adhikari, a resident of Tupche village in Bagmati province, stated that the flood's impact left the fate of the approximately 60 to 70 inhabitants unclear. Adhikari narrowly escaped the disaster, having left the village earlier that day to visit a temple.
Upon hearing of the flood, she and others were unable to return due to five washed-away bridges. Soldiers eventually guided them to an army training ground, where they found temporary shelter and were reunited with some survivors.
An army doctor reported treating around 700 injured individuals on Thursday, mostly with minor injuries, while critical cases were transferred to nearby hospitals or Kathmandu. Adhikari expressed uncertainty about her immediate future, highlighting the precarious situation of the survivors.
