A fatal head-on collision on the Durham Freeway early Sunday morning resulted in the death of North Carolina State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Steve J. Perry. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. when Trooper Perry was struck by a driver traveling the wrong way on NC-147 near Swift Avenue. Sadly, the other driver involved also perished in the crash.
