- Two sisters, ages 6 and 24, died in the collision.
- A GoFundMe is raising funds for funeral and medical costs.

A tragic car accident on March 19 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, resulted in the deaths of two sisters, Carmen Poland, 24, and Lillian Davis, 6. Their mother, Melissa Battle, 48, was critically injured in the same collision and is currently in the intensive care unit at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.
Battle suffered multiple broken bones and significant internal injuries. The fundraiser highlights her struggle to cope with the loss of her children while managing her own serious injuries. The accident involved a Chrysler 200 sedan driven by Poland and a Ford Transit van. Two men in the van sustained injuries, but the driver was unharmed.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Rocky Mount Police Department. Poland and Davis were known for their close, unbreakable bond, often sharing photos on social media. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist Battle financially with medical bills and funeral costs for her daughters.
As of March 29, an update on the GoFundMe indicated that Battle is in good spirits and is expected to be released from the hospital soon, having started physical therapy. The community has rallied around the family, with over $16,500 raised to date. Services for the sisters are pending.
