Four tourists tragically lost their lives when their car plummeted approximately 500 meters into a gorge near Mussoorie on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 9:15 am on the Jharipani-Kolukhet road, close to Barlowganj.
Authorities suspect brake failure on a steep downhill section caused the driver to lose control of the hatchback. The victims were identified as residents of Haryana, Ghaziabad, and Delhi. They were on their way back from Uttarkashi after a visit to the hills.
Emergency services, including police, SDRF, and ambulance teams, responded quickly to the scene. Rescuers battled challenging steep terrain and the gorge's depth to recover the bodies. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fatal accident.
