A devastating accident on Marine Drive early Monday morning, April 27, 2026, claimed the lives of three people. Around 5:40 AM, a 19-year-old male biker, identified as Krishna Desai, was allegedly speeding with an 18-year-old female passenger, Muskan Shaikh, when he collided with a 66-year-old pedestrian, Kishore Lamane. The impact was severe; Mr. Lamane was found over 100 feet from the crash site, Ms. Shaikh approximately 30 feet away and under a parked car, and Mr. Desai's body was discovered near a parked two-wheeler.
All three victims were transported to G T Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. Mr. Lamane, a retired accountant, was a resident of Girgaum and on his usual morning walk. Mr. Desai, from Mulund, had celebrated his birthday the previous day. His father reported that Krishna had a driving license and had recently received his bike on April 5, 2026. Ms. Shaikh, from Cuffe Parade, was the eldest of three siblings and had recently started working.
Marine Drive police are investigating the incident and are in the process of registering an FIR against Krishna Desai. Charges considered include causing death by negligence and dangerous driving. Authorities are attempting to gather further details, including the intended destination of the bike's occupants at the time of the accident. The family of Muskan Shaikh has been unable to locate the scooter she was riding.
