A fire incident occurred on Sunday evening in the kitchen of a bar and restaurant located in Colaba, Mumbai. The affected establishment is situated behind the Taj in the Hotel Diplomat Building.
The fire originated in the basement kitchen area and was rapidly brought under control by emergency services, extinguishing within minutes. Two individuals working in the kitchen sustained burn injuries as a result of the incident.
The injured workers, identified as Sunil Singh (28) and Subrat Barai (25), suffered 5% and 15% burn injuries, respectively. They were promptly transported to St George Hospital, where their conditions are reported as stable. Authorities have indicated that a short circuit in the kitchen's chimney likely ignited the fire.
