- The M&S store remained closed following the incident.

A Marks & Spencer store at the Silverlink Retail Park in Wallsend experienced an evacuation on the afternoon of October 13, 2026. This occurred after a blue Citroën Berlingo smashed into the store's entrance, causing damage to the glass doors. Shoppers and their families were forced to leave the premises.
The incident prompted a significant emergency response, with police, ambulance services, and the Great North Air Ambulance Service attending the scene shortly after 2:17 PM. Two individuals were assessed by emergency personnel and subsequently transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for further medical attention.
Following the collision, the M&S store was closed to the public. This is not the first serious incident at this location; in December 2025, an 81-year-old woman tragically died after being hit by a car outside the same shop.
