A tragic incident occurred at Virar station on Saturday evening when Western Railway motorman Dilip Kumar Sahu lost his life. While engaged in shunting duties to move a suburban train to platform 4A, Sahu was struck by the Amritsar Express. The accident happened around 8 PM.
The pilots and manager of the Amritsar Express promptly reported the incident to the Virar station master, initiating immediate procedures. Sahu's final rites were conducted on Sunday afternoon.
Western Railway has assured Sahu's family of comprehensive support, including ex-gratia and settlement benefits. Additionally, the railway authority has pledged to offer a compassionate appointment to one eligible family member.
