A devoted mother of two, Emily Panuco, 26, was fatally attacked by three dogs on February 27th. The horrific incident occurred at her mother's residence in Big River, California, where Panuco and her 5-year-old son had gone to see a litter of week-old puppies.
As Panuco's son approached the puppies, the three adult dogs, including the mother of the litter, lunged at the child. Panuco immediately intervened, shielding her son and tragically sustaining numerous fatal bite wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene despite rescue efforts.
Her 5-year-old son suffered two severe bites and was taken to a local hospital. He has since been released. The three dogs involved in the attack were taken by animal control and later euthanized.
Loved ones remember Panuco as a loving mother and dedicated librarian. A fundraiser has been established to help cover funeral expenses and support her husband and two children.
