A family in Moga district is grieving the tragic loss of a mother and her six-month-old son, who died following an accident on the Moga-Baghapurana road. The incident happened on Saturday when the family's two-wheeler struck an uneven sewage manhole near Chungi No. 3, causing the infant to fall and sustain fatal head injuries. The mother also sustained severe injuries and passed away on Sunday.
Local residents have reported numerous accidents at this location, labeling it a "black spot" due to the uneven manhole cover and sunken road surface. They have called for accountability from those responsible for road construction and maintenance.
In response to the tragedy, Moga deputy commissioner Sagar Setia announced the formation of a high-level fact-finding committee. This committee, comprising officials from the Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department, and water supply and sewage board, will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
