A vulnerable man was rescued from the M11 motorway after accidentally driving his mobility scooter onto the busy road. Essex Police received a call on Friday afternoon, around 12:35 GMT, reporting the unusual sight of the scooter on the hard shoulder near Harlow. Officers from the roads policing unit responded swiftly to the incident.
To ensure the safety of the man and other motorists, police briefly closed one lane of the motorway. They then approached the man, provided assistance, and transported him and his mobility scooter to safety, taking them back to his home. The police spokesperson noted that while this was an uncommon call for their unit, it served as an important reminder about using appropriate vehicles on major highways.
