Trekker Missing: Drone Search Intensifies in Kodagu

Search operations for G. Sharanya, a 36-year-old woman from Kozhikode, Kerala, who went missing on Thursday, April 2, 2026, were significantly ramped up on Sunday, April 6, 2026. Additional personnel and advanced drone cameras were deployed to intensify the hunt in Kodagu district.
Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre confirmed that 40 personnel in four teams, alongside drone cameras, are now involved, bringing the total search teams to nine. These efforts are being conducted under the directive of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who expressed concern for the missing trekker.
Ms. Sharanya had traveled from Kerala for a trek and was staying in Kakkabbe village. She disappeared on the afternoon of April 2 while trekking to Tadiandamol hills with a guide and 15 other trekkers. She had contacted her homestay, informing them she was lost, and her phone's location is now guiding the search.
The search includes multiple agencies such as the police, anti-Naxal force, a dog squad, forest staff, and local tribal communities. Thermal and normal drone cameras are being utilized to cover the area extensively. The public has been urged to report any information, and neighboring state control rooms have been informed.
