Missing Tourist's Phone Found After 2.5 Years
14 Dec
Summary
- Celine Cremer's phone found near Cradle Mountain 2.5 years later.
- Police now joining private search, suspecting phone was lost.
- New search to focus on phone location and potential route.

A Belgian tourist's phone, missing for two-and-a-half years, has been found near Tasmania's Cradle Mountain, reigniting search efforts. Celine Cremer disappeared in June 2023 during a planned short bushwalk. Her phone was discovered by a volunteer in an area previously searched extensively.
Tasmania Police have now formally joined private investigators and local volunteers in scouring the wilderness. Inspector Andrew Hanson suggested Cremer may have left the track to find a more direct route back to her car and lost her phone, subsequently becoming disoriented.
Despite previous extensive searches in treacherous conditions, no trace of Cremer was found until this recent discovery. The search will resume once weather permits, focusing on the area around the phone and Cremer's suspected path.
