A horrifying crash occurred on the A43 at Hulcote when a motorist, Crenguta Aruxandei, 44, recklessly cut into the path of a military convoy. This sudden manoeuvre forced the lead Land Rover Defender to swerve violently, causing it to smash into the central reservation and flip multiple times.
The 36-year-old driver of the Land Rover was ejected from the vehicle, suffering a suspected fractured back. His 31-year-old passenger sustained a significant head injury. The military vehicle was left completely wrecked following the multiple rollovers.
Aruxandei pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by careless/inconsiderate driving. Despite the severe injuries, she received a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months. She was also handed a 12-month driving ban and ordered to pass an extended re-test before being allowed to drive again.
Northamptonshire Police emphasized the privilege and responsibility of holding a driving licence, condemning actions that endanger the public. They confirmed the injured soldiers were taken to local hospitals, with one to Coventry and the other to Northampton General. The force reiterated its commitment to removing unsafe drivers from the roads.
