A man sustained injuries after being ejected from his vehicle in a rollover crash early Sunday morning. The incident took place around 3:15 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5, near the border of King and Pierce Counties. Bystanders who stopped to assist reported that the driver, upon regaining consciousness, brandished a firearm at them.
Responding troopers located the man after he fled the immediate scene. His injuries were consistent with those expected from the rollover collision. He is slated for medical evaluation before potential booking. Traffic camera footage showed law enforcement officers approaching the vehicle with rifles, but the driver was no longer present.
