A tragic incident occurred late Wednesday night in Maner, Patna, during the immersion of a Goddess Durga idol, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old man. Shashi Kumar drowned when his foot became ensnared in a submerged wooden structure at the Ramghat artificial pond.
Local residents reported that Shashi Kumar was participating in the procession when he entered the water with the idol. His foot getting trapped caused him to lose balance and drown. He was pulled from the water and taken to Maner Primary Health Centre, where he was initially declared dead.
Further attempts were made by his family to save him, taking him to a private doctor and then to ESIC Hospital in Bihta, where he was again declared deceased. Maner police are currently conducting legal proceedings based on the initial report of drowning from the PHC doctors.
