A trekker, G.S. Sharanya, was successfully rescued from the dense Pattighat Reserve Forest after being lost for approximately three days. She was found near a stream by a rock, a location chosen for visibility and water access. The challenging search operation was led by the Karnataka forest department and police, evolving into a nine-team, multi-agency effort. Personnel from the Anti-Naxal Force, a dog squad, and forest staffers, alongside local tribal communities, scoured the difficult terrain.
Sharanya, who had arrived from Kerala, became separated from a guided trekking group of 15 on Thursday, April 2, during their descent from Tadiyandamol peak. She informed a friend and her homestay owner via phone that she was lost before her device lost battery power. Authorities were alerted, initiating the search. She recounted staying put due to a sore leg on the second day and heavy rain on the third, which left her drenched and cold.
