To mark the 37th anniversary of the devastating Lockerbie bombing, a compelling minute-by-minute podcast reconstruction has been launched. Veteran broadcaster Michael Buerk lends his voice to narrate the unfolding of the attack, offering a poignant firsthand account of arriving in Lockerbie the morning after Pan Am Flight 103 was obliterated mid-air. The incident on December 21, 1988, claimed the lives of all 259 individuals on board and 11 people on the ground.
The attack was orchestrated by Libyan intelligence agents under Colonel Gaddafi, impacting passengers from 21 countries, including 35 Syracuse University students. Buerk vividly describes the catastrophic scene, with wreckage scattered across Southern Scotland and a massive crater in Lockerbie caused by the Semtex bomb hidden in a Toshiba radio cassette player. The bombing vaporized homes and tragically claimed innocent lives.
