In a shocking incident that occurred recently in Maharashtra's Palghar district, eleven individuals, comprising seven children and four adults, were hospitalized. The cause for their admission was the alleged consumption of a birthday cake found to contain a dead lizard. Three of the seven children are reported to be in critical condition and have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for specialized treatment.
The distressing event took place in the Neelkantheshwar area of Nalasopara (east) on Saturday evening. Local residents had gathered to celebrate a birthday when the cake was served. Shortly after eating, several children complained of a burning sensation in their chests, followed by vomiting. They were promptly taken to a nearby municipal hospital.
Authorities have seized cake samples for testing to ascertain the exact cause of the food poisoning. In response to the incident, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a raid on the bakery where the cake was purchased. Officials are continuing their investigation into the matter.
