A serious workplace accident occurred on Wednesday, June 18, at an egg production facility north of Litchfield. A man, identified as Michael Redepenning, 62, of Litchfield, sustained a severe injury when he was accidentally caught in a machine.
The incident resulted in the amputation of his lower leg. Emergency services, including Meeker County sheriff's deputies, Litchfield Rescue, and Mayo Ambulance, responded to the scene. Redepenning was initially stabilized and transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
Following initial treatment, he was airlifted to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale for advanced care. The accident took place around 10:33 a.m. on Minnesota Highway 22.
