A 5-year-old boy from Atlanta nearly lost his life earlier this week during a visit to Volusia County's Silver Beach in Florida. The child was found submerged and motionless in the ocean, suffering from a head injury and without signs of breathing.
Fortunately, two vigilant lifeguards, 16-year-old Dempsey Manhart and 19-year-old Mackenzie Malone, responded within seconds. After discovering the boy had no pulse, they commenced cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Their swift actions led to the child coughing up water and beginning to cry, a sign of successful resuscitation.
The boy was subsequently transported to a local hospital for further observation and is reported to be in stable condition. Beach officials emphasized the importance of swimming in areas supervised by lifeguards, highlighting this incident as a vital safety reminder.
