A father of two, Lewis Rimmer, aged 41, is currently in hospital after sustaining severe injuries when he was hit by a car in Bolton on October 27. The incident occurred in a Sainsbury's car park as he was purchasing a lottery ticket.
Mr. Rimmer was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital, where he spent weeks on life support. He has undergone more than 40 hours of complex surgery, including the amputation of his left foot due to extensive damage.
His wife, Sarah, described the surgeons as "absolutely incredible" for saving his life. Lewis also suffered a broken pelvis, fractures to both femurs, and a severe compound fracture to his right shin. He has now been hospitalized for 12 weeks.
