A leopard unexpectedly entered a residential building in Bhayandar (East), causing widespread panic and injuries. The animal gained access through an open balcony and attacked several residents, including 23-year-old Anjali Tak, who suffered significant facial lacerations.
During the frightening encounter, Tak showed immense courage by locking the leopard inside a bedroom, preventing further harm. Her mother and younger sister also received minor injuries during the chaos. The leopard's rampage continued for hours, affecting seven people before it was successfully captured by authorities.
In response to the incident, Forest Minister Ganesh Naik visited the injured and announced financial aid of Rs 50,000 to each victim, assuring that all medical expenses would be covered by the state. The leopard has been tagged for monitoring, and Anjali Tak's wedding, planned for late January, has been postponed.
