Lake Village residents are engaged in recovery and cleanup following a devastating tornado outbreak that resulted in two fatalities. The local community center is actively collecting donations, providing meals, and offering free Starlink internet service to those without access.
Governor Mike Braun is slated to visit Lake Village early this afternoon for an aerial survey of the damage. Volunteers are assisting with sorting donations, which include essential cleanup supplies like baby wipes, towels, household cleaners, and tools. Many homeowners are beginning to assess and address their losses, particularly in areas like the south side of town off US 41 where destruction is most severe.
Utility crews are working to restore power to over 800 customers still in the dark. The Red Cross is operating out of North Newton Jr/Sr High School, which served as a shelter overnight. Authorities are also issuing warnings about potential scammers targeting vulnerable residents in the aftermath of the disaster.
