A cat stranded for over two weeks atop a Kochi metro pillar was successfully rescued in a complex, late-night operation. The feline had been spotted on a narrow ledge near the Kaloor Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium stretch, approximately 50 feet above the ground. Initial efforts by metro staff to feed the animal from below proved insufficient.
A coordinated rescue was planned, involving a temporary halt to metro services to ensure safety. The operation recommenced after daily services concluded, with power supply to the section shut off around 11:30 pm. Fire and Rescue Services, along with animal welfare groups, utilized a hydraulic crane and climbing equipment.
After meticulous maneuvering, the cat was safely brought down at approximately 1:30 am. Local residents gathered to witness the event, applauding the rescue team's success. The animal was then taken to a veterinary hospital for necessary medical attention and recovery.
