Survivor, Families Reach Key Bridge Settlement
30 May
Summary
- Settlement reached for victims and survivor of Key Bridge collapse.
- Cargo ship Dali's owners agreed to an undisclosed settlement amount.
- NTSB report cited faulty wiring causing ship blackouts.

The families of four men killed in the 2024 Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, along with the incident's sole survivor, have agreed to a settlement. Lawyers for these parties announced Friday that all claims related to the tragedy have been resolved with the owners and operators of the M/V Dali. The cargo ship had struck the bridge on March 26, 2024, leading to its collapse and the deaths of six construction workers.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) previously determined that an improperly installed signal wire on the Dali caused two blackouts, leading to the vessel drifting towards the bridge. The NTSB also noted that the construction workers on the bridge were not adequately notified of the impending danger.
While the settlement terms remain undisclosed, the legal team expressed that this resolution brings closure for the families. However, they also emphasized that accountability extends to other parties, and they anticipate further legal battles to secure broader justice for the victims of the collapse.
