Kerala Fireworks Unit Explodes: 8 Dead, Many Injured

A tragic explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Mundathikode, near Thrissur, Kerala, has claimed the lives of at least eight individuals, with several others sustaining injuries. The devastating incident involved a fire that escalated into a significant explosion.
Preliminary information suggests the unit was involved in producing materials for the Thiruvambady faction's sample fireworks, intended for the Thrissur Pooram celebrations scheduled for April 24. The explosion occurred during the preparation of these materials.
In response to the tragedy, Thrissur District Collector Shikha Surendran visited the site and confirmed that additional medical teams were being mobilized from Palakkad. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has ordered all government agencies to be on standby to offer comprehensive medical support to the victims. He also indicated a willingness to secure expert medical aid from hospitals outside Kerala to treat those suffering from severe burns.
