On Sunday afternoon, a speeding Lamborghini caused a significant accident on Kanpur's VIP Road, injuring at least six individuals. The incident occurred around 3:15 PM near Rev-3 Mall when the luxury vehicle, allegedly driven by Shivam Mishra, the son of local businessman KK Mishra, lost control. It collided with pedestrians and several vehicles, including an auto-rickshaw and a parked motorcycle, sending one rider flying.
Eyewitness accounts detailed the car's destructive path, mounting the motorcycle and dragging it before striking an electric pole. Among the injured, Taufiq sustained severe leg injuries. An angry crowd gathered, confronting the driver and his alleged bouncers, leading to a tense standoff until police arrived. The driver was taken to a hospital, and the vehicle was seized.
At the police station, victims and residents voiced concerns about potential preferential treatment due to the driver's family connections. Protesters alleged pressure for a compromise and delays in case registration. Police confirmed the vehicle's seizure and stated that further action would be based on victim complaints, with an FIR to be registered.
