Sydney Winds Toss Jumping Castle, Injuring Children
5 Sep
Summary
- Three children hospitalized after jumping castle lifted by strong winds.
- Incident occurred in Sydney's Gardiner Park during gusty weather.
- Another jumping castle incident injured children in Victoria hours earlier.

Powerful winds in Sydney caused a jumping castle to become airborne, resulting in three young children being taken to hospital. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at Gardiner Park in Banksia.
Emergency services treated the children at the scene before they were transported to Sydney Children's Hospital. A preschool-aged boy and girl suffered head injuries, while a baby was treated for minor injuries. All were reported to be in a stable condition. A woman also sustained minor injuries.
This event mirrored another incident earlier on Saturday near Geelong, Victoria, where two children were hospitalized with upper body injuries after a jumping castle lifted. Sydney experienced temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius with northwesterly winds gusting over 60km/h, leading the Bureau of Meteorology to issue warnings for damaging winds up to 100km/h across parts of New South Wales. The incidents recall the tragic Hillcrest Primary School event five years prior, where six children died when a jumping castle was lifted during a freak weather event in Tasmania.
