A JetBlue flight bound for New York made an unexpected return to Rhode Island TF Green International Airport on Tuesday morning after striking a coyote during takeoff. The incident occurred as JetBlue Flight 1129 was departing, prompting the crew to loop back approximately 15 minutes into the flight.
Passengers reported hearing a noticeable thud during takeoff. The flight crew subsequently informed those on board that the aircraft had encountered a coyote. Emergency response teams were present on the tarmac upon the flight's return to conduct a thorough inspection of the aircraft's nose.
Following the inspection, passengers were asked to deplane. The aircraft was cleared for further flight after crews determined it was safe. The flight eventually departed again nearly two hours later, arriving in New York later that morning. The incident did not affect other flights operating from TF Green Airport.
