Tragedy struck Kumratari village in Jamui district when a fire swept through a straw hut, resulting in the deaths of two young siblings. The victims, identified as five-year-old Anita Kumari and her 1.5-year-old brother Manish Kumar, were trapped as the fire spread rapidly.
The blaze reportedly began when Anita, the elder sister, found a matchstick and accidentally ignited the dry straw of their home while trying to warm herself. Her younger brother was asleep inside at the time. In a desperate attempt to save him, Anita also became trapped within the flames.
Upon receiving news of the incident, police arrived to recover the children's bodies, which were sent for postmortem. Local leadership has provided immediate financial assistance to the family and pledged to facilitate government aid and compensation, ensuring support during this difficult time.
