Jaipur Authorities Evacuate Residents from 16 Unsafe Buildings in Walled City

On October 1, 2025, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Heritage department took decisive steps to address the issue of unsafe buildings in the Walled City area. The authorities have served notices on the owners of 16 buildings, ordering them to vacate the premises within 24 hours.

In addition to the evacuation orders, the JMC also carried out demolitions of unsafe portions of two buildings and temporarily sealed them after shifting out the residents. The corporation has also issued repair orders to the owners of nine other buildings, making it clear that failure to comply will result in further action.

The actions taken by the JMC are crucial to prevent any accidents or incidents in the areas of Amer, Brahmapuri, and Gangapol, especially amid the ongoing heavy rainfall. The deputy commissioner of the Hawa Mahal Amer zone, Seema Chaudhary, emphasized the importance of these measures to ensure the safety of the residents.

The buildings that have been temporarily sealed include properties located at Galta Walon Ki Bagichi, in front of Vijay School on Old Amer Road, Gurudwara Wali Gali on Old Amer Road, Shobhag Mahal on Old Amer Road, in front of Kaluram Mawe in Gangapol, Ragro Ka Mohalla in Handipura Amer, and Sitaram Bazaar in front of Jyoti Jewellers. The demolitions were carried out at Ojha Ji's Haveli in Gandhi Chowk and Meenas Mohalla in Amer, while repair work was ordered for Munshi Ramdas Ji's road near Samod's Haveli.

In the Kishanpol zone, the authorities have also sealed five dilapidated buildings and ordered three building owners to carry out necessary repairs.
