Firefighters are investigating the cause of a significant fire that engulfed a two-story apartment building on Applegrove Street NW on the afternoon of November 29. The blaze caused an estimated $80,000 in damage to the four-unit structure.
Emergency services responded swiftly to reports of smoke emanating from a window. Upon arrival, they encountered smoke and flames visible from both a window and a door. Three residents were safely evacuated from the building. Fortunately, no residents or responding firefighters sustained any injuries during the incident.
Tragically, the fire resulted in the loss of two dogs and one cat. Another cat could not be located. Fire departments from Jackson Township, Green, Plain Township, and North Canton collaborated to combat the fire. The investigation into the origin of the fire is ongoing.
