A full emergency was declared at Chennai International Airport late Tuesday night after an IndiGo flight from Kolkata reported an issue with its left engine.
The IndiGo flight, 6E-723, was nearing the airport around 11:30 pm when pilots detected the engine problem, which included an oil leak. Following the report, Air Traffic Control was alerted, and airport authorities initiated a full emergency protocol.
Fire tenders, rescue vehicles, and medical teams were positioned near the runway as a precautionary measure. Despite the engine malfunction, the flight crew managed to land the aircraft safely on Runway 25 at 11:37 pm.
After landing, emergency personnel inspected the aircraft. All 224 passengers and crew members on board were confirmed to be safe, and the full emergency was withdrawn shortly after. Normal flight operations at the airport resumed without significant disruption.
