1 May
Summary
- Student faced emotional stress due to unemployment
- Community raised over $76,500 for repatriation costs
- Government officials are expediting the return of remains

A student from Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, recently completed his master's degree in Chicago. He had been experiencing significant emotional distress due to difficulties in securing employment after weeks of searching.
His family and members of the Indian community expressed concern over his well-being, particularly regarding the financial strain on his father, a security guard. Following his passing, a fundraising campaign was initiated by the Indian community in the US.
The campaign rapidly gained traction, collecting over $76,500 within two days. The initial goal of $25,000 was to cover the expenses of transporting his body from the US to India, a cost his family could not afford.
Any remaining funds will assist the family in repaying the student's education loan. The community is working to expedite the repatriation of his remains, with the current plan involving airlifting by Sunday.
Government officials, including Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, have been engaged to ensure a smooth and swift process for the family during this difficult time.
