Nithyanand Reddy Gannu, a 26-year-old man from India's Telangana district, has died following a severe road accident in Detroit. The incident occurred on July 18 when Reddy, who was riding a two-wheeler, was struck by a car. He sustained critical injuries, including a fracture that necessitated emergency surgery.
Following the surgery, Reddy developed cerebral fat embolism, a rare and life-threatening condition. This occurs when fat droplets from a fractured bone enter the bloodstream and travel to the brain, potentially causing multiple clots. His condition became critical, and he remained on life support in the ICU under the care of specialists.
Reddy had come to the US three years prior to pursue an Emergency Medical Services course and had recently completed his studies and secured employment in Detroit. His birthday, July 23, passed while he was unconscious in the hospital, and he was declared dead just hours later.
