Daughter Watches Home Burn Down

Last month, Kim Yeomans experienced the devastating sight of her daughter Kerry's house in Birmingham being destroyed by fire. The family was on their way to a caravan holiday in Skegness and had to watch the house burn to the ground, losing all their belongings. Yeomans expressed her heartbreak at witnessing her child's devastation.

The fire on Hillmeads Road in King's Norton was among approximately a dozen houses that burned down in Birmingham on August 13. This was during the UK's hottest summer on record, which saw numerous fires break out across the West Midlands. Stourbridge reported 19 homes lost, with others destroyed in Stoke-on-Trent, Pershore, and Willenhall.

Fire crews across the region reported being stretched thin by the numerous blazes. Fire incidents also occurred in Shropshire and Warwickshire, prompting a national response. London Fire Brigade assisted West Midlands and Staffordshire Fire Services by answering 754 calls.
