The 54-year-old artist required extensive medical intervention after fracturing his C1 vertebra and dislocating his C5-C6 level, leading to quadriplegia.
Rescue operations, notably involving the Indian Air Force, were initiated to transfer him to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). Doctors there performed a successful surgery to address the neural compression and stabilize his spine.
He is currently in stable condition, conscious, and communicating. A multidisciplinary team is overseeing his recovery, with early mobilization in a wheelchair planned as part of his rehabilitation program.
