A man lost his life on Sunday evening in Gwinnett County while bravely rescuing his mother and their family dog from a devastating house fire. The fire broke out on Sandra Drive, with emergency services arriving shortly before 6:30 p.m. to confront significant flames engulfing the garage, living room, and attic.
Neighbors reported that the man acted swiftly, ensuring his mother's safety before re-entering the burning structure to save the family's pet. Tragically, he was found in the entryway of the home. While one individual was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, a Lilburn police officer sustained minor injuries that were treated on scene.
The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire. The exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation, and the victim's identity has not yet been released.
