- One teen had only been CPR certified for one week prior to the rescue.

Two heroic teenagers, Jackson Leonard, 17, and Isaac Hassell, 15, have been recognized for saving a young child's life. The incident occurred on May 25 at Lake Bailey in Vilonia, Arkansas, when the pair heard desperate calls for help.
They discovered a 3-year-old girl face-down and unresponsive in the water. Without hesitation, the teens performed CPR until the child was revived. Jackson and Isaac's actions, which occurred almost a month prior to their recognition, earned them the American Heart Association's Heartsaver Hero award.
Remarkably, Isaac Hassell had only recently obtained his CPR certification a week before the rescue. He described the girl as "blue" and "limp" upon being pulled from the water, prompting him to begin compressions. Jackson assisted with rescue breaths, and together they administered five cycles of CPR.
The teens expressed humility following their heroic feat. Jackson stated he did what he was trained to do, and Isaac conveyed gratitude for the child's survival.
