On Saturday, Corporal Joshua Swisher of the Southlake Police Department demonstrated remarkable bravery when he rescued a driver from a vehicle moments before it became engulfed in flames. Swisher was initially responding to a speeding violation when he noticed a smoking Nissan that had pulled ahead.
Upon approaching the Nissan, Swisher found the driver trapped, with the door refusing to open and smoke billowing from the car's interior. He shattered the vehicle's window, reaching in to pull the distressed man to safety just as the car's interior ignited.
Despite suffering minor burns to his arm, Corporal Swisher remained on duty and completed his shift. The driver of the speeding Mercedes, who received a warning instead of a ticket, was reportedly distracted after visiting a family member in the hospital.
