Hantavirus Ship Docks in Spain for Evacuation

The cruise ship MV Hondius, at the center of Hantavirus cases, is scheduled to arrive in Tenerife, Spain, early Sunday morning. Spanish officials confirmed that passengers from Spain will be the first to disembark.
Several European nations, including Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, and Ireland, along with the Netherlands and the United States, are dispatching aircraft to facilitate the evacuation of their respective citizens from the vessel.
The European Union will provide two additional planes for passengers from other European countries. The Netherlands will also assist in evacuating non-European passengers whose home countries are unable to send retrieval flights.
Spanish authorities have assured that the disembarkation process will be managed securely, with no further contact beyond what has already occurred on the ship. Following the release of all passengers, the MV Hondius will journey to the Netherlands to undergo comprehensive disinfection procedures.
