Originally from Guwahati's Noonmati, Hrishita was in Delhi pursuing her educational and professional aspirations. She had completed her undergraduate studies at Maitreyi College, Delhi University, and was concurrently enrolled at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for higher studies while undertaking an internship.
Her mother recounted that Hrishita typically commuted via metro but opted for a bike taxi on the day of the incident, which occurred near her residence. The family received news of the accident after her phone was found, initially informed of a leg injury. They rushed to Delhi, where doctors made efforts to save her, but she suffered multiple cardiac arrests. The family has appealed for privacy and dignity for Hrishita during their period of grief, expressing gratitude to those who assisted her after the accident. They bear no ill will towards the Rapido driver, who was also injured.
