A 56-year-old factory worker was killed and another person injured when a trainee driver allegedly took a Haryana Roadways bus without permission near Gurgaon's Sector 37 industrial area on Friday afternoon. The deceased, Ravi Shankar, was walking with coworkers when the bus struck them.
The bus, part of a month-long training program for new drivers, was taken by 25-year-old Bharat during a lunch break. He reportedly drove it back to the training ground and fled.
Eyewitnesses reported that bystanders shouted and threw stones at the fleeing driver. The bus ultimately collided with a parked car before coming to a halt.
An FIR has been registered, and police are recording statements from roadways officials and witnesses. The postmortem of the deceased is scheduled for Saturday.
