A state-owned ground handling service, AIASL, has been fined Rs 10 lakh by Mumbai airport operator MIAL following a serious incident on April 10. During a towing operation, a detached dolly broke free and struck a parked Gulf Air aircraft, causing damage to its airframe.
The incident led to the aircraft being declared Aircraft on Ground (AOG). MIAL cited significant reputational loss, disruption to airport revenues, and operational inefficiencies as consequences of the grounding.
MIAL also indicated that it reserves the right to seek further compensation for losses incurred due to the damage. There has been no official comment from either MIAL or AIASL regarding the incident.
