1 May
Summary

- Suits allege inadequate maintenance and Biffle's responsibility for the plane's safety.

Two wrongful death lawsuits, each seeking $15 million, have been initiated following the tragic plane crash in December 2025 that claimed the lives of seven individuals, including former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle. The lawsuits were filed on behalf of the Dutton Estates and point to Greg Biffle, the owner of the Cessna C550 jet, as responsible for the aircraft's maintenance, operation, and safety.
Allegations include claims of inadequate maintenance that contributed to the crash. Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, their son Ryder, and his daughter Emma were among the victims. Also lost in the crash were pilot Dennis Dutton, his son Jack, and family friend Craig Wadsworth.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is actively investigating the incident. A preliminary report indicated that the pilot attempted to return to the airport due to an altimeter malfunction and that the left side flight instruments may not have been functioning correctly. No evidence of engine failure was found.
Further investigation by the NTSB is ongoing, with a final report anticipated to take over a year. The preliminary findings suggest a focus on potential mechanical or pilot-related factors. Families of the victims have expressed their profound grief.
