An 86-year-old grandfather, Ian Chatten, tragically lost his life in a car crash on the A12 near Saxmundham on December 4th. The collision involved two vehicles, and Mr. Chatten, a sole occupant of one car, died at the scene. His passing has left many saddened.

He was a proud rhythm guitarist for the local band The Wild Oats in the early 1960s and later returned to playing guitar in his 70s, performing with various acts. He also enjoyed motorsports and horse racing, cherishing moments cruising Suffolk's roads on his motorcycle.
Authorities have arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remains on bail as investigations continue. Mr. Chatten, originally from Friston, was a self-employed builder and will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
