Summary
- Father and son died in an accidental fall on Stob Coire Nan Lochan.
- Richie succumbed to hypothermia; his father died from head and chest injuries.
- A search involving 44 people located the pair after they were reported missing.

A father and his young son tragically died in an accidental fall while climbing in Glen Coe, Scotland. Tom Parry, 49, and his 12-year-old son Richie, from Alsager, Cheshire, were on the mountain Stob Coire Nan Lochan when the fatal incident occurred on 29 May 2024.
The inquest at Stoke-on-Trent Coroner's Court heard that Richie died from hypothermia due to cold exposure, while his father succumbed to severe head and chest injuries sustained in the fall. The pair were discovered by an extensive search operation involving 44 individuals, mountain rescue teams, and a coastguard helicopter.
Evidence presented at the inquest indicated that Richie was found approximately 100 meters from his father, suggesting both had fallen. They had set off for Scotland on 26 May and informed family that they intended to climb another mountain on 28 May, expecting to return that evening. Their failure to do so led to them being reported missing the following day.
