Firefighters are engaged in a major battle against a significant blaze that erupted in Glasgow's city centre on the evening of December 28, 2025. The fire broke out on Wilson Street, with emergency services responding shortly after 6:18 pm. Eleven fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where flames were observed coming from the roof of a building. Reports indicate the fire is located near two hotels, the House of Gods and Revolver Hotel, and is situated above the well-known Polo Lounge nightclub.
As a safety measure, several nearby buildings were evacuated. This included a soup kitchen operated by The Homeless Project Scotland, which confirmed all individuals were safely removed before the facility was temporarily closed. The incident caused significant disruption, with Glassford Street closed to traffic between Ingram Street and Trongate, prompting advice for road users to avoid the area.
